Covid 19: Guidelines about practicing safe sex work courtesy of NZPC at Alert Level 2

Updated: Sep 3

"We are now in Alert Level 2 throughout the country, with some extra restrictions in Auckland - So to ensure the safety of valued clientele and companions here's some information and guidelines which 7th Heaven Wellington will be advising Companions to follow sourced from the NZPC website links to their website attached below. " - The Director.

"If you have flu like symptoms and are unwell we are advising our Companions to decline engaging with you to protect themselves and make sure we are adhering to government guidelines."
"Should you present symptoms identical to those that the government has advised must be avoided, after we have verbally advised and screened you, our companions will decline you, and you will still be expected to pay the same amount agreed upon for the time of the companion for that booking."
"While we understand that this may seem an inconvenience to clients wanting to engage with our service, we have a responsibility and duty of care towards our companions, staff and wider community to consider and to you our clients."
"We appreciate your co operation and support of these arrangements now and for the foreseeable future."

Auckland now joins the rest of the country at alert level 2, with some extra restrictions.

The rest of the country remains at Alert Level 2. The extra restrictions in Auckland mean that public gatherings and at Tangihanga and funerals continue to be more restricted in the Auckland area than in the rest of the country.

This means that no more than 10 people may be at a public event.

In the whole country at alert level 2, businesses are required to display the Government COVID-19 QR code.

This is to ensure contact tracing can have effect.

Businesses can still run a paper-based system or other log-in system if they wish, or as an alternative, but must display the government QR code.

People all over the country should wear a mask on public transport: buses, trains, planes, taxis, Ubers, etc.

Working at Level 2 Alert:

It is strongly recommended that sex workers ensure that you follow these guidelines when offering in-person sex with a client.

  • Screen the client first:

  • Have they had any symptoms, or a cold or a flu?

  • Have they come back from travelling recently?

  • In particular, if they have travelled from a cluster community recently, or are a member of a cluster community.

  • If they know if any of their contacts have tested positive for COVID-19.

  • If they answer yes to any of these questions, it may be best to refuse service.

  • Do not offer GFE, kissing or any other activity in the “moist breath zone”.

  • Wear mask and gloves when needed

  • Don’t do sex work if you have COVID-19/cold/flu symptoms OR are in a high risk category –

  • over 70years

  • compromised immunity

  • other conditions including respiratory conditions, heart conditions, high blood pressure, kidney problems or diabetes

  • receiving treatment for cancer or blood conditions

  • pregnant.

  • Observe strict hygiene

  • Shower before and after each client - the client should shower before and after each booking.

  • Frequent and thorough hand washing

  • Remember that even if you wear a mask, hands can still transmit the Corona Virus

  • Avoid touching your face or the faces of clients - this leaves live Corona droplets that can be transported, and transmitted, easily.

  • Frequent and thorough surface cleaning

  • Washing linen between each client

  • Anti- viral disinfectant (not just anti-bacterial). Look for the following ingredients –

  • hypochlorite OR activated hydrogen peroxide (0.5%)

  • Conventional bleach

  • Ethanol

  • Isopropyl alcohol

  • Methylated spirits

Information on Contact Tracing

In order to reduce the spread of COVID-19, it is important to be able to quickly trace the contacts of people who have become infected.

Keep a record of your jobs – date, time, and contact details (name, phone number, or e-mail address).

Agree with your clients that they will contact you if they test positive for COVID-19 (or have a close contact with someone who has).

When a person tests positive for Covid 19 they will be called by the local public health unit who will ask them to provide details of all the close contacts they’ve had.

Close contact includes

  • Direct contact with body fluids of a person who has COVID-19,

  • Living in the same household or hostel with shared facilities with a person who has COVID-19,

  • Face-to-face contact with a person who has COVID-19 within 2 metres for longer than 15 minutes,

  • Having been in an enclosed environment (classroom, waiting room etc) with a person who has COVID-19.

That information will then be passed onto contact tracers, who will connect with the people and places on the list to tell them that they may need to get a COVID-19 test.

Make sure you have a record of your bookings

  • Date, time, location, contact details (phone, name, e-mail address).

Get agreement from your client that if they are a close contact or test positive for COVID-19 they will contact you directly, or include you on a list of close contacts to public health officials.

The government QR code must be displayed in all businesses, and are unique to that specific address.

If a business owns two or more brothels, each brothel will require a different QR code.

This QR code must be displayed in public at all entrances and exits.

"Here at 7th Heaven Wellington we take the health and well being of our clients, companions and community very seriously, and while we are aware how frustrating a process it may seem, it is our responsibility to you, our employees and community members to ensure we are following government guidelines on how best to keep our patrons and staff safe.
"We thank you for your understanding, support and cooperation for the foreseeable future." - The Director.
